Picked up this DVD yesterday. Dark City is one of my all-time favorite films. My wife hadn't seen it since before we were married, so we both sat down and watched this director's cut yesterday.
10 years later, this film is still amazing. A genre-bending gothic sci-fi mystery with an amazing super-powered climax.
The added footage unfortunately does nothing to help the film. In fact, it slows it down a little bit. It was interesting to see a little more of these characters here and there, but the pacing of the film was best in the theatrical release, and nothing added here made me see the characters differently or made them more compelling.
Still, if you've never seen "Dark City", it's a real treat. (Viewer warning, there are a couple scenes of brief nudity.) This movie was warping reality before the first Matrix movie came out, and still arguably does it better in several ways.
